Purpose: The curriculum is designed to prepare students for full-time employment within the field of commercial horticulture as well as for those presently working who seek further knowledge and advancement.

Graduates of the program are prepared for managerial/supervisory level positions in areas which include landscape design and installation, grounds maintenance, floristry, greenhouse and nursery management, garden center operation, and sales and marketing in related industries.

Students in this program have an opportunity to gain career-related work experience through Cooperative Education or an internship in their area of emphasis.

Two Years


Total credits for the A.A.S. Degree in Horticulture Technology: 63-64 credits


1 Students may choose from any of the following communication electives: CST 100 , CST 110 CST 115 , CST 126 , or CST 227 .

2 Students may choose from any of the following humanities/fine arts courses: ART 100 , ART 101 , ART 102 , or ART 250 .

3 Students may choose from any of the following business electives: BUS 116 , BUS 117 , BUS 165 .

4 Students may choose from any of the following electives: ECO 110 , ECO 120  or GEO 200 .

5 Course chosen must align with Coordinated Internship or Cooperative Education focus. Example: If the Internship is with a Vineyard and focus is on vine establishment, VEN 110  would be an appropriate course.

6 Students may choose from any of the following electives: BIO 101 , ENV 121 , GOL 105 , NAS 125 , or other course approved by the academic advisor.
