Purpose: The curriculum is designed to prepare students for full-time employment within the field of commercial horticulture as well as for those presently working who seek further knowledge and advancement.

Graduates of the program are prepared for managerial/supervisory level positions in areas which include landscape design and installation, grounds maintenance, floristry, greenhouse and nursery management, garden center operation, and sales and marketing in related industries.

Students in this program have an opportunity to gain career-related work experience through Cooperative Education or an internship in their area of emphasis.

Total credits for the A.A.S. Degree in Horticulture Technology: 64-66 credits


Elective should be selected with advice of a counselor or academic advisor to meet requirements of the transfer institution.

2 Students may choose from any of the following business electives: BUS 100 BUS 116 , BUS 117 , BUS 165 , BUS 200 , or BUS 260  .

3  Students may choose from any of the following communication electives: CST 100 , CST 110 CST 115 , CST 126 CST 227 , or CST 229  .

Students can choose from: HRT 125, HRT 135, CHM 101 or CHM 111. Students cannot receive credit for both CHM 101 and CHM 111. If students use CHM 101 or CHM 111 for the Physical or Life Science w/Lab (3-4) credit they cannot use it also for the Horticulture Chemistry requirement.
