ADJ 139 - Private Detectives/Investigators (4 CR.) Instructs the student in investigative techniques, criminal law and procedure, rules of evidence, and the techniques and mechanics of arrest. Meets state certification requirements for private investigators licensing. Lecture 4 hours per week.
General Course Purpose The purpose of this course is to provide the student with necessary information regarding basic investigative techniques, arrest procedures and criminal law to meet state requirements for private investigation licensing.
Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- meet state requirements for a private investigators’ license.
- describe interviewing techniques used.
- differentiate between civil law and criminal law.
- describe the methods used to collect and report information.
