CPL: Section 4-Credit by Advanced Placement (AP) Exam

Steps to Request an Evaluation of AP Credit:

1. Apply for admission and choose a program of study (declare a major).
2. Enroll in a credit course.
3. Request the College Board to send your official AP score report to NOVA’s College Records Office. If needed, the mailing address is: NVCC College Records Office, FX-P3 3924 Pender Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.

It takes approximately four to twelve weeks to get credit posted to your record. Updates will be sent to your NOVA student email. 

Advanced Placement (AP) Exam

General Information

Administered by the College Board, the Advanced Placement (AP) program offers an opportunity for students to complete college level course work in high school. The following AP equivalencies are standardized across Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The decision was made based on the recommendations of faculty across the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) in 2024. Northern Virginia Community College applies the new, standardized equivalencies to AP scores received on or after April 1, 2025. AP credit awarded prior to April 1, 2025 will not be retroactively reviewed.
